Papier-Mâché Birds

Hello 3/4 Families!

This week, the 3/4 artists learned about the “ooey-gooey” fun that is papier-mâché! We began this project by looking at images of Vermont birds such as the Cardinal, Blue Jay and Goldfinch. Students noticed the shapes of their bodies and what their unique features look like. Using newspaper, students formed their birds, adding wings and tails with cardboard. They then continued on to covering and forming their birds with papier-mâché, adding a beak. Once dried, ,students added wire legs. They look fabulous, each one very unique! Next week we will be painting them (pictures to come!) and they will be on display at the winter concert on December 19th. Hope to see you all there 🙂

Happy Friday!
