This quarter in writing, the 3/4 class is working toward crafting a multi-paragraph essay which will be aligned to our global studies project. One writing skill which will help make our essays exciting to read is expanding our vocabulary of adjectives. This week in writing, students created an informational paragraph telling the reader all about Thanksgiving break. They learned how to make a “paragraph sandwich”, worked on crafting topic sentences that cover what the paragraph is all about, and thought of ways to include interesting adjectives in their writing. As a visual reminder, students collaborated on an adjective word wall that demonstrates how we can replace common words like “good” with more exciting words, such as “fantastic” or “wonderful”.
It has been wonderful to see the 3/4 authors grow in their writing skills over the course of this first semester. We truly have a creative group dedicated to making progress in all aspects of their writing practice. Keep up the great work!
