Researching and Paraphrasing: Working on our book on light and color!

This week in STEM, the 3/4s practiced research and paraphrasing skills as they started gathering information to put into the class book about the physics of light and color. Each group chose a topic related to light, color, and photography, and will be writing paragraphs and taking pictures to teach about that topic. The 3/4s started by looking back at all the experiments that we did during this project on light and color, and practiced summarizing skills to pull out the main take aways and analyses from those experiments. They then practiced how to reword and rearrange when paraphrasing, and practiced first by paraphrasing sentences about what their friend’s did during the snow day. They then applied these paraphrasing skills of rewording and rearranging to the books and websites that they used for their research on light and color. They did a wonderful job starting to gain the skills to put information into their own words! Next week they will finish their paragraphs and work on the photography portion of the book, taking pictures about their chosen topic!
